Career Counseling is a consultation process aimed at enabling individuals to develop awareness of making decisions and plans about their own career development processes, to guide this process effectively in the direction of their interests, abilities and values and to cope better with uncertainty, indecision, changes and transitions in this process.
The main issues in interviews with Career Counselors are as follows;
- Setting an individual career goal and making plan.
- Self-acquaintance, raising awareness about strengths and weaknesses
- Managing uncertainty and/or indecision concerning the career goals
- Getting information about job/internship searching processes/techniques.
- Getting support and information about CV preparation and interviews
- Getting support and information concerning postgraduate education and academic career
- Getting advices on skills (language, communication, competence development) that will contribute to career development
- Managing anxiety and stress about career issues.
- Getting advices to evaluate the student years efficiently in line with the career goal
- Evaluating the results of the Self-Assessment Inventory together (If you filled in)
Face-to-face Career Counseling interviews last maximum 45 minutes and the number of interviews is evaluated mutually according to needs. However, because of the pandemic process, the interviews will be held online until suitable conditions occur.

The Self Assessment Inventory was developed by Prof. Dr. Yıldız Kuzgun and its main goal is to evaluate the interests, values and abilities (For More Information) of individuals. Thus, the individuals can make a good career plan contributing to their career development. All students and employees of our university can have free access to this inventory.

If you are employee of IU;
Fill your workplace registration number for “User Name” and the last 6 numbers of your ID for “Password”.
If you are student/graduate of IU;
Fill your school number for “User Name” and the last 6 numbers of your ID for “Password”.
NOTE: In the case of not entering the system, write your school number without “0” at the beginning. If there is still an entrance problem, send your information below to kariyer@istanbul.edu.tr. As soon as possible it will be ensured to enter the system and you will be informed by an e-mail.
